Uniform and Appearance

We believe that a smart uniform, properly worn, is fundamental in supporting what we as a school wish to achieve. In recent years many visitors and members of the public have commended our students for their smart appearance in school and on their way to and from school.  We ask our parents, and expect our students, to support us in this.  At Sunbury Manor School we are proud of our students and their smart appearance.  We want everyone to wear the correct uniform, and to look smart.  Ties should be done up correctly, shirts buttoned to the collar and tucked in.

Please ensure that all items are marked with your child's name.

We appreciate the fact that our students look so very smart, but we do on occasion have to send students home if they are wearing incorrect uniform or have had unacceptable hair colours/ styles or facial piercings.

We hope that this clarification will help to avoid any misunderstanding in September.

Coats:  We would recommend that students have a dark winter coat for the colder months.  Hoodies ARE NOT allowed in school and should not be worn as a coat. Denim/leather jackets ARE NOT allowed.

Make Up:  Students should not wear make-up or nail varnish.

False Nails and Eye Lashes:  False nails and eye lashes ARE NOT allowed.

Hairstyles: Hair styles must be of a natural colour and sensible style.  Hair may not be shaved nor have shapes or patterns cut into it.  Eyebrows may not be shaved.

Jewellery/Embellishments:  Students ARE NOT allowed to wear jewellery to school, other than one pair of small stud ear-rings (in the ear lobe).  Hoop ear-rings ARE NOT allowed for safety reasons.  Facial/tongue/tragus/rook piercings ARE NOT allowed.  Large ear posts ARE NOT allowed, and any holes made as a result of these posts will need to be covered by plasters.  If students do wear jewellery, despite being asked not to, the school cannot take responsibility for any items lost or stolen.   If jewellery is confiscated by a teacher it will be kept securely and can be collected on a Friday afternoon after registration. Students will be required to sign for items they collect.

Bags/coats:  Inappropriate motifs, emblems or studs are not allowed.   School bags must be of a reasonable size in order to carry A4 folders and text books.  Handbags are not acceptable.

Scarves:  Must be plain coloured but NOT football scarves.

If parents have any questions please phone the school first for clarification before spending money on something that may not be permitted. This will avoid any unnecessary conflict about what is, or is not, acceptable in school.

Sanco will not be offering the pop-up school shop this year.
