Silver DofE Expedition Success in the New Forest
Twenty Year 10 students recently completed a fantastic Silver Duke of Edinburgh expedition in the New Forest, working in partnership with The Phoenix Project. Over the course of two nights and three days, the group covered an impressive 30km, all while facing challenging hot conditions.
The expedition provided plenty of memorable moments, from navigating through herds of the New Forest’s famous ponies to lively map-reading debates about whether to turn left or right at key junctions. Despite these disagreements along the way, students consistently demonstrated strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
The heat added an extra layer of difficulty, testing both physical endurance and mental determination. However, every student showed outstanding resilience and commitment, pushing through tiredness to successfully complete the expedition.
Throughout the journey, behaviour and attitude were exemplary, with all students representing the school brilliantly. Their perseverance, support for one another, and positive mindset were a credit to themselves and to the Duke of Edinburgh programme.
A huge well done to all involved – a truly impressive achievement!
